Ducati 450 Scrambler Jupiter description

I found this rare and low mileage thumper in a dry barn where it had been carefully stored for 30+ years. I dusted it off, changed the oil, hooked up a brand new battery, put in a new spark plug, cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor and was able to start it up (see Youtube videos to hear it run). It's got strong compression, only 4049 miles, no oil leaks, no tears in the seat, clean paint, original exhaust and is mostly complete. It kicks over and the motor runs strong but I haven't been able to test ride it because it needs work like installing the front brake cable, changing the tires and figuring out why the front wheel is slightly off center in the fork (see photos).

It's a project that needs some parts and labor but all the major stuff is there and the motor is strong and healthy. I've ordered spec tank mounts so that it would be secure for shipping but they aren't pictured. You can here the tank rattling in one of the Youtube videos I posted to show that it runs. The bike isn't tuned yet but you can see in the video that there is no smoke coming out of the exhaust. Obvious things it needs include: Front brake cable, sort out front wheel alignment, decomp lever cable hooked up, tires, rear light repaired and reinstalled, bulbs changed and lights checked, valve adjustment, timing checked, carb tuned, air filter is missing, air boot is cracked, center stand is missing and should be replaced because it feels precarious to start on the side stand so we've been propping it up with a 4x4 wedged into the frame. The tank is pretty clean and shows no sign of rot but it has some flaking coating inside and some light rust on the inside of the cap so it should still be flushed.

Message me for a link to more photos and Youtube videos of it running. Email me with questions or call 413.896.7195.

How the 2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200S’ Skyhook Suspension Works

Mon, 24 Sep 2012

When Ducati announced the updates for its 2013 Multistrada 1200 lineup, the Italian manufacturer was surprisingly quiet about the line’s most notable upgrade, the Ducati Skyhook Suspension. All we were told was the system is a semi-active suspension using Sachs components that adjusts its damping settings to varying riding conditions. Ducati has now provided more information about the DSS technology which will be standard equipment on the three “S” versions of the Multistrada 1200, the Touring model, the sportier Pikes Peak model and the new flagship Granturismo model.
